Why is my laptop not playing music or sound?
If your computer is not playing any sound or music at all you may have simply muted your laptops volume, or you may be missing your Audio/Sound Drivers for your laptop, to find out what one of the problems you will have to see if you can change the volume for your system, if you cannot this means your missing your Audio Drivers.
Un-mute/Change Laptop Volume
- Click your Start Menu
- From your Start Menu click “All Programs”
- From the All Programs Menu, click the Sub-Directory Accessories
- From there click the “Entertainment” folder, and then select “Volume Control”
- Make sure your Volume is not muted, if you get a prompt saying no Audio Device then you are missing your Audio Driver
If you could not find your volume control program, please check the bottom right corner of your computer, there is normally a Volume Icon there.
Missing Laptop Audio/Sound Drivers
If you are missing your Laptops Audio/Sound drivers this can be a slightly larger problem, but it can still be resolved by going to your laptop manufacturers website and downloading the latest one for your laptop, below you can find some links to popular laptop makers, select yours and search for your laptop model to find your drivers.
If your laptop maker is not listed on that list above simply go to Google and enter your laptop make and model that can normally be found on the casing of your laptop, or on a label under it.
