How can I get a laptop computer running Windows XP to realize that it does have a CD drive installed?

Question by mink_1989: How can I get a laptop computer running Windows XP to realize that it does have a CD drive installed?
Someone “fixed” a laptop computer at work. Now it no longer has a CD drive installed. I’ve tried inserting the startup disk and booting the computer, but it’s not reading from the drive. I’ve looked at the control panel and tried to find someway to reinstall the drive, but have not seen anything. Any suggestions?

You should enter the bios settings and you will probably find it there. Ther’s diffrent methods to enter the bios from one computer to another, but when you turn it on, it usally says something like “Press F1 to enter setup” or something like that. Look for a message similar to that, and do what is says, and you goes into the bios.
