What type of portable drive enclosure do I need?
Question by Josh O: What type of portable drive enclosure do I need?
I have a Toshiba HDD2190 hard drive from a laptop which is fried. I need to get the information off of the drive, and I bought a portable drive enclosure. Unfortunately, the 2.5″ enclosure is not compatable due to the connections being different. How do I know which one I need, and can anyone recommend the right one for me?
I’d appreciate your help!
The interface is ATA-2/3/4/5/6. I bought an ATA drive, yet it is not the correct type.

it could be SATA. CHeck the model on the laptop and see, OR take the hard drive serial number and check for a replacement, which should tell you the type of hard drive.
