I want a portable DVD player but I download movies and I want to know if I can put those on there. Also, can it hold any documents or anything?

Really no. DVD players have no built in storage.
What you want is a Netbook computer, iPod touch, or iPad. Any of those will play downloaded video from legitimate services, the latter two if you got them from iTunes.
