Question by alex: Which Type of Escape LAdder is better a bolted down one or a Portable one?
My work is looking to replace their Fire escape ladder, one person is dead set on us getting a Red Rung Ladder which bolts down, but the only ladders that I can find currently in production are portable, which makes me think there is something wrong with the bolted down ones.

The only reason I can think of is in case the fire is at the same spot the ladder is located, then you don’t have any other options for escape. If you use a portable ladder, you can use the safest point of escape from the roof.
