Q&A: router or laptop with connection problem?

Question by Deborah S: router or laptop with connection problem?
If my laptop sits unused for a while I lose the wireless internet connection. If I try reconnecting to the internet I get informed that there is a problem connecting. If I shut off my router and restart it, my computer can connect. Is the problem with my laptop or my router?
My router is secured.

yo may have wardriving neighbors poaching your wifi.
lock it down in several different ways like using the mac filter to accept only your devices and maybe even assign/reserve an ip to them.

k, i’ve also seen this problem w/ certain nic/wifi and certain drivers and have solved this by setting the speed on the card/adapter to 10mbps, since most people don’t realy get any more thatn that anyway. even if you buy the 7 or 12 from comsact, for instance, even streaming vids from youtube or porn you only get about 1-4 per stream/download.
