Question by Sssstressed: My laptop has a virus & I have to use recovery partition to fix it. If I backup Applications am I okay?
I have a few applications that I no longer have the CDs for and I use them on a regular basis. They were installed long before I got this virus. I don’t plan on backing up any new applications. Also, since my hard drive is going to be set back to when I first purchased it, how safe will it be to copy or backup files?

I wouldn’t risk it. That virus could have infected your application files already. There is really no way of knowing what it has done or where it is hiding. You are better off just restoring it from the backup partition and start from scratch again.

don’t the infection might be deep ,clean install
That wouldn’t work anyway, even if the virus hadn’t infected the applications you’re talking about. The majority of applications need to be installed to work. Just copying the executables back onto your new installation of Windows won’t create all the necessary dlls, Registry keys, etc., that the programs require to run.
