Question by mikeofohio: Hey,does ne1 know of a program/software that could make a portable hard drive stay to a fixed drive like b:?
I have a Western Digital 120 GB portable hard drive, and I have basically loads of programs that can run solely off the hard drive. My problem is when I take it take a different computer it switches ports, therefore rendering all paths to those applications useless. Does anyone know of a program or software that allows the drive to be set to a fixed drive? Thanks
Hey, just to inform you, that suggestion half-worked, because although yes it did set it to a fixed drive (O in this case), it only remained O on the computer in which I set the drive on, but when I plug in into my laptop it goes back to F:

Can’t change to B:.

Since most computers usually don’t go past O or P drive, click start> Manage> Disk Management.

Go to the drive letter that the ext. drive is now. Right-click and change the drive letter to P or Q (something pretty far down the alphabet).
