What’s wrong with my laptop?
Question by BigRob: What’s wrong with my laptop?
I just recently had my laptop repaired a few times within the warranty period. The 1st time was because the harddrive was supposedly failing. The 2nd time we just brought it in for a checkup and the techs found out the harddrive was supposedly failing again. The 3rd time we brought it in just to replace the dvd drive because it wouldn’t eject. Now, I was using my laptop a couple days ago and all of a sudden it shutdown on me. I tried turning it back on and it gave me a OS not found error. Can someone tell me what’s wrong with my laptop? Is the harddrive failing or is it disconnected? Can this just be fixed with a fresh OS install? I don’t want to have my harddrive completely wiped because I don’t have everything on it backed up, only some stuff is.

Hy there! My guess is that the HDD is indeed broken, because you mentioned having had problems with it. You could try reinstalling the OS, and if your HDD is dead the setup will tell you. Or, you could try to see if the BIOS sees your hdd, or if it sees any problems on it.
Usually a computer suddenly shut down is because of over heat ,in your case probably your laptop has a power surcharge on your harddrive due to bad contact.try take out the HHD and spray wd40 on the socket.
