I don’t say you can’t. But it will be a very very risky thing.
What I initially suggest is to clean the desktop. Here’s how to do it.

If you can’t repair the desktop in case like it is your school PC which you do not have admin powers I suggest you upgrade the anti virus in your laptop.
Then copy the pictures to flash drive. Copy picture by picture not the whole folder. It minimizes the risk of hidden virus files being copying to the flash.
When you plug the flash to the lap top, do not open it. Instead do a virus scan on it.
Then copy the pictures to your laptop.
After the operation I suggest you do a complete virus scan on your laptop.
