Question by bob B: Sata Laptop Enclosure Issue…I had windows installed in the laptop hard drive then deleted it and now it dont?
I took my old 640 gb sata II laptop hard drive and put it inside the 2.5″ enclosure and plugged it in my win 7 laptop and it worked..it showed about 550gb then I decided to delete all the files in the hard drive but it didn’t work..it said some of the windows files were not able to be deleted..so I took the hard drive out of the enclosure, put it in my laptop, poped in a windows installtion cd, and then while it was in the installtion process I deleted the entire partition so it showed up as 640 gb in the end…I thought this would fix the problem so after I did that I took the hard drive out of my laptop again and put it back in the enclosure and it only shows 10 gb now as RECOVERY?!?! How do I get the 640gb back and make it work as a USB Portable Hard drive?? Thanks!!

Reinsert the drive into the enclosure & connect it to the laptop. Reformat the drive while inside the enclosure. This will erase all the ‘drivers’ associated with the laptop’s motherboard and free up all the space.
