How are you supposed to repair disk errors?
Question by Bill Kingsley: How are you supposed to repair disk errors?
I’ve had the blue screen of death a few times now on my laptop, it pops up randomly, the most recent being today but the last one a few months ago. When scanned with AVG PC Tuneup, it reports 1 disk error but how is it supposed to repair anything? It doesn’t seem to ever affect the functionality of my laptop, it still works fine. Is there any way to figure out what might be happening? Windows error reports are worse than useless.

Run “Check disk” ( the Windows utility);
Start> my computer> right click ‘c’ drive> properties> tools> error check: here check both boxes, then OK. The next time you cold boot your system, this process will run (maybe 30-90 minutes) fixing disk errors (if any).
I think Vista/Win7 have similar filepaths.

If it is bad sectors, it is better to change disk completely than bother to repair it. If it is something else (like errors in files), then Checkdisk will be enough.
