I mean to say I could tap my mouse pad (to open, enter etc.)and scroll with a finger touch

Go to your mouse options under the control panel and make sure that the settings are all correct.

    Check your mousepad’s settings thru Device Manager to see if there’s either a red X or a yellow triangle. If so, right click that option–a drop down list will show some of the options, choose Properties. What you have to do is troubleshoot your device. If that doesn’t fix it, reboot the computer in safe mode and repeat the above steps.
