I have had a nanp ipod (first generation) for over two years now, so I am familiar with it. I received an ilive docking station for Christmas. I have not touched my ipod in AT LEAST a month (it has been plugged into the docker). So I went to mess with it today, and it will absolutely not turn off at all! I have recharged it and put it on the computer, docker, and portable charger. I know it is not on hold and I know I am using the right button (play/pause on bottom).
I am going on a trip tomorrow, so I would really like it fixed tonight!

This happened to me before and i just waited untill the battery ran out, then I just charged it and it worked fine. But if you need it to be done soon and u can still play it i would play games on it because they take up a lot of battery. hope that helps:) im not sure if it will work cause i have a newer ipod….

hold the top middle and bottom button until it turns off.. some times it takes a minuite or two.. but when it turns off you’ll see the apple.. then just turn it back on.. and it should be fixed.. keep trying it until it works.. because it will.. u just have to hold all three buttons.
A lot of iPod issues can be resolved by connecting to computer, making sure you have the latest iPod AND iTunes updates available. If you don’t, download it. If this doesn’t work – restore it to factory settings.
I got a Docking station for xmas too
and I had the Same Ipod…
and it slowly started to break after I got the Docking station
first the battery would die fast
then it wouldn’t Hold
then it wouldn’t turn off
I blame the Docking station
Im never using one again
and the Ipod wasn’t even a year old…
