Why doesn’t my laptop screen work when it is plugged into the power supply?

Question by Alex P: Why doesn’t my laptop screen work when it is plugged into the power supply?
My Dell Laptop screen just stopped working all of a sudden while I was using it. I found out that it just doesn’t work when it is plugged into the power supply. I can still plug in the power supply and hook it up to an external monitor or when the power supply is not plugged into the laptop. Is this a simple fix or do I need to take it to a repair shop?

Unless you’re extremely competent it’s a repair shop job I’m agraid. It sounds as if you have a connection loose which will need soldering. It’s fiddly and I wouldn’t do it myself. It should be a fairly simple job for a repair shop.
