how come my computer wont boot right when there is stuff plugged in?

Question by Jaco1000: how come my computer wont boot right when there is stuff plugged in?
i built a computer recently and when ever i have stuff plugged in my computer wont boot right fr example my ipods was plugged in and i got some weird symbols unplugged it and it booted fine when i have my portable hard drive plugged in i have to pick what drive i want it to boot on in order for it to boot properly how do i go about fixing this so it always boots off my western digital caviar black hard drive

my setup is
sabertooth x58
intel core i7 950 cpu
gtx 470
6gb dominator ram

any help regarding so that i can boot with this stuff plugged in would be great thanks in advance!
so is there a way to fix the boot sequence? becasue atm i dont like restarting the computer ! cause i never know if its gonna boot properly ! :S

your computer may be thinking you’re trying to install a new os. my old computer did the same thing

    Its because ipods, cameras and other stuff have hd’s. Your computer tries to boot off of it first.
    Its basically confusing the boot sequence

    It sounds like a driver issue to me. Check and see if you have the right or latest driver for your “stuff.”

    You need to go into the BIOS and disable the boot features for your USB
