My Toshiba Satellite laptop has a virus :(?

Question by Cody: My Toshiba Satellite laptop has a virus :(?
It’s running windows 7. I downloaded a song from limewire and it gave me a virus. When I turn on my laptop all it does is go to a black screen with the mouse and it gets stuck there. Any suggestions?

    Press F8 at start up to enter start options.
    Press F12 at start up black screen to enter built in system recovery.

    Use the set of system recovery disc you created when you first used the lap top and re install Windows 7 or do a system repair this writes over every thing on the hard drive even the bad bugs. If have any thing of importance back it up to CD’s or external HHD before re installing a new operating system as it will be written over and lost. Do a new install to drive C only and leave the recovery drive D partition. If you did not create a recovery CD set it can be ordered from http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/Recovery-media/m-p/9148#U9148 by model and serial number.

    I had a similar issue and unfortunately you have to reformat your laptop. Life lesson: Don’t use limewire. Don’t worry! I know what you’re thinking – you have important files on it, right? Yeah, I ran into this problem myself. I had a friend suggest to me a device that allowed me to retrieve the files without running the operating system on it. Think of it as me having access to the body of the hard drive without starting the mind.

    Pretty much you connect your laptops hard drive to it and the device to another laptop or computer via USB. You can access the hard drive like a external hard drive because the files are still there, its just a bad operating system (since the virus decided to take it on a little joyride). I use it anytime I have a similar issue and its great.
